It’s a long story, but we promise, it’s a good one. A chance meeting in early 2015 by two like-minded professionals lead to the development of Corporate Wellness Partners, or CWP as we like to call it. All it took was a couple meetings between Clinic Director Wendy Frederick, PA-C and CFO Betsy Matthews, CPA, MBA, to realize that there was a serious need for an independent occupational health practice in this area. “We felt this huge hole in the market for occupational health that was friendly and efficient and we knew pretty quickly that we could bring this to our community,” says Frederick. A couple years in and we had another epiphany—acute care faced a similar crisis. Gone were the days of calling on your doctor for a house call when injury or illness hit your household. Instead acute care had shifted to medical systems with ever increasing copayments and wait times. “We knew our occupational health patients were often skimping on their medical care because of high deductibles and health insurance costs, so it made perfect sense to expand into an acute care model with affordable cash pricing,” says Matthews. And thus, CWP Express Care was born. Then Covid-19 reared its ugly head, and with many companies forced to reduce shifts and layoff workers, our business was in jeopardy of meeting the same fate of so many during this pandemic. But we knew we had to be there for the companies that were surviving and we knew in that moment that we had to be part of the solution. So, when nobody knew what we were fighting, supplies were tough to come by, and Covid test results often took weeks, not days, we launched our offering of Covid-19 testing for employers and area surgery centers. After 1 month, we were testing 7 days a week, and running nearly 200 tests per day on top of our clinic operations. From there, it continued to grow as we supported companies, school districts, surgery centers, and the community at large with fast, reliable testing. None of this was easy. We poured our heart and soul into this endeavor and we hope it shows in all that we do. This is CWP.
